Elle King The multi-platinum and award-winning Elle King, who is known for her popular country and rock songs, will be stopping by Baltimore with her latest tour, Drunk And I Don't Want To Go Home, on March 3rd. The show will take place at the Rams Head Live! event venue at 20 Market Place, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show beginning at 8 p.m. This show is named after her new single Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home) which features Miranda Lambert and debuted at #1 on Billboard's Rock and Country Digital Song Sales Chart. Step Afrika!'s Drumfolk Step Afrika! is an internationally touring group that performs stepping, a traditional African American form of percussive dance. They also incorporated other types of rhythmic dance into their exquisitely choreographed musical shows that are fun for the whole family. Step Afrika!'s newest show, Drumfolk, takes place on March 3rd and 4th at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, which is about 40 miles from Baltimore, just north of Washington D.C. This musical performance is inspired by The Stono Rebellion of 1739, when enslaved Africans took up drums to start a revolt in South Carolina. RAIN: A Tribute To the Beatles If you're a Beatles lover, you won't want to miss RAIN: A Tribute to the Beatles. In celebration of the anniversary of the release of the iconic Abbey Road, RAIN will be presenting the Best of Abbey Road Live! Showcasing the greatest hits of the album, this event takes place on March 10th at 7:30 p.m. at The Lyric, located at 140 W. Mt. Royal Avenue. Come experience this popular Beatles tribute that brings the songs of the Fab Four to life with a fun, theatrical show that is suitable for all ages. Celtic Woman: Postcards From Ireland Celtic Woman is an internationally adored, all-female, Grammy-nominated group of singers and instrumentalists performing both modern and traditional Celtic songs. Though the members have changed over the years, the spirit of the group remains the same, bringing you ethereal voices, beautiful harmonies, and skilled instrumentals in one unforgettable experience. Their latest tour, Postcards from Ireland, will be in Baltimore on March 12th, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Hippodrome Theatre. Dear Evan Hansen Dear Evan Hansen is a Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical that's reopening at the Hippodrome Theatre at 12 N. Eutaw St. It runs from March 15th to the 20th, with shows at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee, and at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. This contemporary musical is beloved by critics and the public and is packed with unforgettable original songs and heart-warming moments. If you haven't seen it yet, now's the time to check it out and have a fun night out with your best friends or partner. Thirsty Thursdays at the Opera Thirsty Thursdays at the Opera is back on March 24th, this time featuring Hoiby's Bon Appetit. This popular music and tasting series lets you enjoy live performances by top opera singers who serenade you with operatic highlights while you sip wines that have been expertly paired to match the tone of the music. What's not to love about that? This event starts at 7:30 p.m. and takes place in the Grand Ballroom at the Engineers Club at 11 W. Mount Vernon Place. A Simon and Garfunkel Story Fans of the famous folk-rock duo won't want to miss A Simon and Garfunkel Story, which is touring again this year. This immersive theater show features large photo projections and original film footage to tell the story of the duo from its earliest days through its heyday in the 60s, the breakup in the 70s, and even the duo's reunion show in ‘81. The show also has a live band covering all the greatest Simon and Garfunkel hits that you love. Postmodern Jukebox Postmodern Jukebox is a beloved musical sensation that takes modern pop hits as well as some classic songs and reimagines them into older styles of music, such as big band jazz or swing numbers. These unique and fun renditions will have you tapping along and admiring the skill and musical mastery of the performers. Catch the band in Baltimore at the Hippodrome Theatre on March 27th, with the show starting at 7 p.m. and ticket prices starting at $70. MAGFest is a non-profit event dedicated to promoting music, games, and art in an inclusive environment. This fest's featured guests include English games voice actor A. J. Beckles; DJ and performer Discoholic; and voice actor, producer, and director George Ledoux, whose work included GhostRunner and Neverwinter Nights. MAGFest's musical guests range from Triforce Quartet, which is a traditional string quartet playing video game music, to the Megas playing synth-rock anthems inspired by popular series, such as Castlevania. You'll find everything from marching bands to solo performers amongst the more than 30 musical acts. MAGFest has everything from an indie video game showcase to tabletop board games, so whatever style of gaming you're into, you are sure to find something you love and have a great time. Washington Auto Show If cars are your passion, you'll want to check out the Washington Auto Show that is happening from Jan. 21 to 30. This annual event is held at the Walter E. Its newest building, The REACH, is a multipurpose building with many galleries, performance spaces, and outdoor grounds, including a sculpture garden. If you visit this winter, be sure to check out the REACH Winter Lanterns which goes from Jan. 26 to Feb. 6. Located outdoors, this stunning display features around 100 lanterns made by Chinese artisans out of 10,000 colored LED lights. The REACH Winter Lanterns event is part of the Lunar New Year celebration, which marks the start of the Year of the Tiger this year. This free outdoor event is sure to be fun for the whole family. Stroll through illuminated displays of colorful pandas, glowing fierce tigers, playful fishes, turtles, and other sea creatures, along with colorful butterflies, flowers, vegetation, and much more. This brilliant light show begins each day at 5:30 p.m. as the evening grows dark. Children of all ages will love wandering through the displays and seeing the fun lanterns light up the dark. Preston Singletary: Raven and the Box of Daylight Preston Singletary: Raven and the Box of Daylight is a show featuring the work of Tlingit artist Preston Singletary. Singletary works mainly in glass, but he also uses steel and other materials. The show will be held at the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC, and goes from Jan. 28, 2022, until Jan. 29, 2023. It offers a multi-sensory experience that tells the story of Raven, creator of the world and giver of light, through art, storytelling, original music, and soundscapes. After hours at the zoo, guests can walk or drive through a festival of lights shaped like wildlife. The money raised from this spectacular seasonal event will help support the zoo's animal care and conservation work. Annual guests will be happy to see that the zoo's walking path has been expanded this year and now includes Schaefer Plaza, the Farm Yard, and the train station. The event will run from Friday, November 19, 2021 through Sunday, January 2, 2022. Lights turn on from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and several zoo cafes will be open for guests to purchase water or hot cocoa. Wear your walking shoes, because although the paths are very easy to follow and made for a leisurely stroll, the ground can get slick in colder weather. Treat the family and take part in the walk-thru event, from Friday through Sunday. Zoo guests will enjoy snacks and warm drinks at Zoo Central, and free train and carousel rides. Merri and Bright Holiday Tree Lighting The holiday tree lighting ceremony is a can't miss annual tradition for many Columbia families. A tree lighting ceremony is a festive way to kick off all of your holiday events and a visual signal to start your holiday shopping. On Friday, November 19 at Color Burst Park the party begins with live music, holiday performances, and artists creating live ice sculptures right in front of you. They invite attendees to write a letter to Santa including your holiday wishes, create your own hot cocoa concoction, and take the little ones to the kid crafting station. They enjoy coloring festive photos or even making a sweet ornament to hang on your tree at home. Color Burst Park is at 6000 Merriweather Drive. The celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. and continues to 8:30 p.m. The event is free to attend.
